Blade alignment is imperative to proper skating technique as well as to injury prevention. Improper blade alignment can cause stress on joints and ligaments due to a skater compensating for the uneven distribution of body weight. As well, basic skating skills may be compromised if both edges are not evenly in contact with the ice surface.
